Overview

Manage a modern gray and ductile unionized iron foundry for the Anniston, AL plant, including leadership of staff of approximately 100, reporting to the plant manager. Operate at both the strategic and tactical level, maintain and build a strong team, drive improvement on key metrics and serve as a senior member of the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Drive industry-leading safety and environmental performance.
  • Ensure delivery of quality products with superior service levels.
  • Consistently improve key operational metrics affecting cost.
  • Demonstrate understanding of operational performance on sales and business profitability.
  • Identify manpower requirements according to anticipated demand changes and staff accordingly.
  • Build strong sense of accountability at all levels and develop teamwork.
  • Provide leadership in training and developing hourly and salaried employees.
  • Other special projects as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead Foundry Team consisting of approximately 15 salaried and 85 hourly reports.
  • Functional areas of responsibility include electric induction furnace melt, DISA greensand mold, Laempe isocure core, cleaning and maintenance departments.
  • This is a leadership position, requiring competency in planning, conflict management, delegation, critical thinking, customer focus, and team-building.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Skill Levels and Work Experience        

  • 8+ years progressive industrial supervisory and management experience.
  • 3+ years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with precise attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success and history in building effective teams with a proven ability to lead by example and influence.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development and execution, change management, collaboration, operational excellence, and driving business results.
  • Highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with internal customers.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Direct, empathetic and persuasive communication style.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated sound work ethic, high degree of personal integrity, honesty and moral character.
  • Understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs.
  • Critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Participation in local and national professional organizations to further advance professional development and continuing education.
  • Ability to work in hot, dusty environment.
  • Ability to frequently sit for long periods of time utilizing office equipment and/or computers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

 

Preferred Skill Levels and Work Experience

  • Four year accredited BS or BA degree
  • Greensand iron foundry experience
