Overview

The Product Design Engineer designs, develops and manages new product and product components.  This position will become familiar with all phases of product development and the latest technologies; they combine innovation, human factors, and engineering knowledge in order to make a product successful in the marketplace. The Product Design Engineer will work closely with the Sales Department and upper management to take an idea and develop it so that it can be produced and sold. The right candidate will do everything from selecting the materials, type of prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing methods that are cost effective and meet the product design criteria. The PDE will also be able to generate drawings and 3D models for tooling, prototyping, patents, marketing, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • The Product Design Engineer is also responsible for fielding product inquiries, particularly from Sales personnel and customers, and initiating Engineering Change Orders to revise product designs. 

  • Manage Product Design Projects by spearheading design of new product/components, developing design criteria, planning project milestones and coordinating prototype production.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with 1-5 years’ experience in professional Engineering.
