  • Overview

    Manchester Tank and Equipment, a leading manufacturer of low-pressure vessels in North America, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for the Bedford, IN plant. Under the direction of the General Manager, the EHS Manager shall establish and direct the company’s environmental, health and safety programs. Direct, supervise and administer the company’s EHS safety program:

    • Write, evaluate and audit safety/environmental practices, policies and procedures.
    • Evaluate and determine proper safety equipment (PPE, etc.) for various jobs and tasks.
    • Evaluate new and existing machinery and equipment to ensure that all equipment meets or exceeds all applicable safety/environmental standards.
    • Be knowledgeable of safety/environmental standards and regulations, including OSHA, EPA, IDEM and maintain compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws/regulations regarding workplace safety and environmental compliance.
    • Be knowledgeable of and work with Third Party Administrator to manage and administer Worker’s Compensation claims
    • Maintain required OSHA documentation, including OSHA recordkeeping.
    • Be knowledgeable of and maintain an effective Industrial Hygiene program.
    • Enter data and maintain required company documentation in various software programs, such as Medgate®, SharePoint® and Dakota (training will be provided as needed).
    • Oversee safety/environmental training, including delivering training and ensuring that employees receive all required training in a timely manner.
    • Investigate accidents and incidents, including Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions.
    • Analyze data and develop Risk Reduction Plans to reduce accidents and injuries and drive continuous improvement in safety.
    • Lead EHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed
    • Determine permitting requirements (air, water and waste), completion of permit applications, performing emission calculations and implementation of permits to ensure compliance
    • Make waste determinations to include taking samples for analytical analysis interpreting data, selection of TSDFs, and reporting
    • EPCRA Reporting
    • Manage Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
    • Manage the Environmental Management System
    • Participate in new equipment and process changes at facility level to ensure EHS requirements are incorporated into all design and purchasing decisions
    • Lead the safety/environmental programs and be a knowledge resource for plant Safety/Environmental Committees, Management, Supervision, and Hourly Workers.
    • Lead and direct the activities of the Safety/Environmental Department and staff.
    • Lead continuous improvement intiative regarding EHS policies and programs
    • Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering or related discipline.
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment preferred.
    • ASP, CSP CEP, CHMM, etc. is preferred.
    • Knowledge and skill with basic software, such as Microsoft Office®, including Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel® and Outlook®.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external parties.
