Overview

Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping product or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming product or material; and arranging for the transportation of products.

Responsibilities

•Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
•Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, , damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
•Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, shipping orders, customer paperwork, to route materials.
•Print less-than-truckload (LTL) documents.
•Bill less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments.
•Confer or correspond with carrier representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. File claims as needed.
•Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
•Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials; assist to find lost or misplaced freight.
•Determine best shipping methods for materials to be shipped.
•Assist Sales with any special customer requests.

Qualifications

•High school diploma is required.
•One to three years of related on-the-job experience required.
•Experience working in a computer-based ERP and data entry preferred.
•Knowledge required to perform this job successfully include but is not limited to clerical; production and processing; and customer and personal service.
•Skills required to perform this job successfully include but is not limited to speaking; active listening; critical thinking; reading comprehension; coordination; and judgment and decision making.
•Abilities required to perform this job successfully include but is not limited to near vision; problem sensitivity; oral expression; information ordering; oral comprehension; deductive reasoning; perceptual speed; speech clarity; inductive reasoning; and manual dexterity.

•Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
•Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
