Overview

Perform various activities in the human resources area including but not be limited to employee and labor relations, recruiting and staffing, onboarding and retention, and HR administration. Assist the HR Manager in the areas of leadership development, performance management, and complaint investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resource management system software.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws.
  • Schedule and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Maintain and update human resources documents, such as employee handbooks and performance evaluation forms.
  • Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies and procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
  • Advise management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting and retention programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Business Administration. A concentration in Human Resources is preferred.
  • Five to eight years of progressive human resources experience required.
  • HR experience in a heavy industrial/foundry and Union environment preferred.
  • Must be able to work within a team atmosphere.
  • Must possess strong and effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be familiar with basic PC software and operation; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point a must.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously a must.
  • Human Resources professional certification a plus.

  • Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
  • While in the foundry, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
