  • Overview

    Prepare 3D models and detailed design drawings of equipment, processes, facilities, machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.



    • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
    • Work directly with project engineers to prepare drawings that detail plans, specifications, and bills of material from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.
    • Prepare engineering drawings based on written and verbal description provided by project engineers.
    • Generate 2D and 3D layouts and detailed shop drawings for miscellaneous fabrications such as structural steel, platforms, walkways, railings, and other custom plant equipment.
    • Coordinates fabrication activities to ensure products conform to engineering design and specifications
    • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation
    • Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
    • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
    • Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines. Complete 3D models for new mechanical systems.
    • Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
    • Check dimensions of materials to be used and ensure dimensional accuracy with the drawing.
    • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
    • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
    • Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Engineering Manager.




    • Associates degree in drafting and design technology or equivalent amount of education and experience.
    • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of related experience.
    • Ability to problem solve and manage competing requests in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
    • Self-directed; ability to multi-task, follow-up, and prioritize to complete assignments on tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with peers.
    • Strong focus on design and Auto CAD abilities.
    • Must be able to take an idea or concept and create the end product in a productive and timely manner.
    • Demonstrated experience in meeting deadlines with design and drawings is a must.

    • Must have the ability and flexibility to move between different assignments and still be productive and efficient in the different assignments assigned.
