Responsibilities

 

General Function:

 

 

The Environmental Manager is responsible for leadership and direction with all environmental engineering and compliance responsibilities at AB&I Foundry. As such the Environmental Manager reports directly to the General Manager. The Environmental Manager directly or indirectly supervises a staff of environmental professionals, technicians, and clerical team members.

 

 

Duties:

 

  • Provide Department level management and leadership to the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations and in furtherance of industry Best Practices.
  • Develop and/or review all Environmental permits and exemptions in the regulatory areas of air, water, and waste to ensure that all anticipated environmental related activities are in compliance with existing permits.
  • As appropriate review facility reporting information prior to its submittal to regulatory agencies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement programs to train management, supervisors and hourly team members in proper work site environmental practices to include the handling of hazardous materials, spill preventions, containment and clean-up.
  • Provide training, leadership and oversight to the facility environmental inspections conducted by regulatory agencies, third party environmental personnel and the management and supervision at the facility.
  • Ensure that all environmental records, information and reports required for regulatory compliance or per Company policy are maintained and completed as needed and on a timely basis and that all records and information are properly safeguarded.
  • Interface with regulatory officials, consultants and environmental professionals at other McWane facilities and throughout the industry as appropriate and as necessary, both as a resource and to gain information on environmental solutions implemented at other locations.
  • Prepare environmental department budgets and prepare detailed cost benefit analyses for major environmental related initiatives.
  • Oversee the professional development of environmental staff.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of State and Federal environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Familiarity of current environmental issues and theories.
  • Knowledge of data processing and computer programs as they relate to system planning and engineering analysis.
  • Effective working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of project management and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience in contract administration.
  • Knowledge of various alternative analysis concepts, such as cost/benefit, life cycle.
  • Management skills, including ability to organize, prioritize, and evaluate work, as well as the ability to supervise and direct staff.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to develop, implement and administer an environmental program.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment.
  • Physical ability to work in a variety of environments such as; hot, cold, indoor, outdoor, inclement weather, uneven, elevated or depressed work surfaces.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
