    Responsibilities

    The Pipe Relief Man relieves all the Pipe Machine Operators at various times throughout the day. The Pipe Relief Man must be able to operate all four pipe machines proficiently and safely. Each pipe machine produces pipe that is manufactured utilizing the centrifugal permanent mold casting process. The pipe manufacturing process is complex and needs constant monitoring and at times adjustments are necessary which are made by the Pipe Relief Man (who is filling in for the Pipe Machine Operator). Knowledge of the pipe manufacturing process is crucial to maintaining optimum safety, peak productivity and acceptable quality.

    The Pipe Relief Man must also be able to shank iron to all pipe machines. This is the process of transferring the molten iron from the holding furnace to the pipe machines via hand ladles moved manually along the monorail distribution system. The transferring of molten iron requires Team Members to be alert at all times and adhere to all safety policies and procedures designed to keep not only the Iron Shanker safe but everyone else in the vicinity safe.

    The ideal candidate must be physically fit, reliable, get along well with fellow team members, be a self-starter, be able to communicate well, be able to work independently, must understand, implement and follow all safety policies and procedures, follow all environmental policies and procedures and follow all AB&I policies and standard operating procedures.
