    Under direction of the controller, participates and/or assists in supervising cost accounting activities to determine manufacturing cost by unit and product line for purpose of production and inventory control, inventory pricing, cost comparison, administration and general information.  


    1. Performs and/or assists in supervising cost accounting duties to determine detailed manufacturing cost per ton by unit and product line (raw materials to finished goods) giving a complete breakdown on cost for various operations such as Cupola, pipe machines, fittings units, Maintenance, patterns and pattern equipment, labor and various other phases of operations.
    2. Responsible for the editing, sorting and/or analyzing of material, labor and overhead costs, factory production and other data to ascertain distribution of cost by units and product line. Inspects reports, invoices and other data to maintain correctness of use and cost center numbers.
    3. Responsible for preparing cost center reports for monthly financial statements, which includes summary of cost by line items by department, and cost per ton.
    4. Responsible for audit schedules and special cost reports as required.
    5. Coordinates with various clerks, supervisors and workers throughout the office and plant relative to the cost accounting system.
    6. Responsible for the maintenance of sufficient record in finished goods inventory by product line and prepares various inventory reports and comparisons.
    7. Recommends methods and techniques to improve the efficiency of cost accounting system to meet the changing requirements or character of company operations.
    8. Responsible for preparation of period end inventory valuation for all companies using LIFO method.
    9. Responsible for maintenance for sufficient records for all companies on finished goods inventory by product line and raw materials for use in LIFO inventory valuations, working closely with Data Procession on inventory valuation data.
    10. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.


    • Must have knowledge of the specialized field of cost accounting such as fundamental and principles of accounting and bookkeeping. Equivalent to a high school education plus 4 years of college or the equivalent in experience


      1. 5 years of related experience.
      2. Wide variety of duties involving general knowledge of company policies and procedures.
      3. Duties require considerable judgment to determine detailed manufacturing cost per ton by unit and product line (raw material to finished goods) giving a complete breakdown on cost for various operations.
      4. Under directions of the Controller, the TM has a definite objective and plans and arranges own work. Rarely refers only specific cases to superior unless interpretation of company policy is involved.
      5. Failure to properly perform job could result in efforts in company books or inaccurate reports to management.
      6. Work requires considerable accuracy and responsibility.
      7. Duties involve the preparation of the data on which top management bases important decisions
      8. Regular contact with subordinates and superiors to other departments in furnishing or obtaining information for reports.
      9. Deals with persons of substantially higher rank on matters requiring explanation or discussion.
      10. Regularly works with confidential data of major importance such as profit loss figures, expense and revenue analysis.
      11. Duties require regular use of computers in preparing, checking and reviewing work. Must concentrate mental and visual attention for sustained periods.
      12. Occasional exposure to noise, dust and heat. Occasional trips into plants to gather information.
