Overview

We supply fire hydrants and valves to the water works and fire suppression industries. We have been manufacturing these products in Elmira, New York, for over 125 years. SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations over his assigned shift. Responsibilities include managing projects, preventative maintenance activities, employee relations, upholding relevant policies and procedures, maintaining and improving safety standards, and communications with management regarding activities and issues identified in the department. Overtime is required and a commitment to project completion in times of need is essential.


 

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Supervise approximately 20 union maintenance employees
  • Coordinate jobs based on preventive maintenance, production needs, and improvements
  • Maintain consistent operation of equipment and facilities on shift
  • Assure all safety procedures are followed
  • Assure required communications and training takes place through employee huddles
  • Track time and attendance, department changes, probationary periods
  • Assure team has tools, instructions, and manpower for projects
  • Assist Manager in planning and implementing shutdowns
  • Assist in grievance proceedings when required
  • Conformance to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and standards.

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent working knowledge of electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Two years supervisory experience or five years maintenance experience in a Foundry
  • Certification or technical degree in related area preferred
  • Assertiveness for leadership
  • Ability to build a culture for teamwork, work well with employees and management
  • A sense of urgency for correction and prevention of problems
  • Attention to detail for documentation and paperwork
