Overview

Perform a variety of warehouse traffic routing duties to ensure correct and timely shipping documentation. Perform customer service duties as requested. The position also requires the ability to make decisions related to the job without immediate supervision from Manager and/or Supervisor.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Customer service duties include but are not limited to answering phones, filing, order entry, inventory posting and updating, and handling daily incoming and outgoing mail.

Assist Amerex Corporation (Trussville) Sales Personnel with customer and vendor request (carrier routing, freight rates, expedite shipments, RMA returns, customer pickups and shipment re-consignments).

Data entry to enter and close shipments.

Coordinate and distribute shippers accordingly. (example UPS, FEDEX)

Facilitate the completion of the customer pick-ups and must ships daily.

Route customer orders and assign specific routing instructions per customer and logistic companies.

Print and complete Bill of Lading and place in freight carrier’s folder to ship.

Complete Straight Bill of Lading for vendor service shipments.

Ensure entering visitors sign in and out on the Amerex Corporation Premises Permit and Full Release Form.

Perform various traffic and offices duties as requested.

Complete all required training including Hazardous Material Classes –Marking, Labeling and Shipping Documentation.

Route customer orders and assign specific routing instructions per customer and logistic companies

Administer weekly safety training as required by the safety department and regular hazmat training with staff.

Attend weekly conference calls if requested.

Prepare branch for all audits both planned and unplanned.

Inventory management

Perform all duties of Branch Manager in their absence

Additional duties as may be assigned             

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 

High School Graduate or equivalent with office experience. College level courses completed a plus.

Computer proficient – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Must be self-directed, organized and handle multi-tasking assignments for reoccurring and/or one-time assignments.

Proper telephone etiquette and handle different personalities well.

Excellent time management, written and verbal communications and human relations skills.

 

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This position may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics.

                                                                                                                                              

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position requires the individual to be on their feet for extended periods of time except when operating machinery or performing administrative and supervisory responsibilities. Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as sit, walk, push, pull, bend, and climb with ability to move/lift up to 75 pounds. Should not have lifting restrictions nor be afraid of heights. Should be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels based on climate. The incumbent is regularly exposed to a warehouse work environment with moving mechanical parts as well as a comfortable office environment. Noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
