Foundry Pattern Shop Specialist

SUMMARY

Kennedy Valve is currently seeking a professional, self-motivated individual to fill the role of Foundry Pattern Shop Specialist.  This position reports to the Foundry Manager and has daily team interactions within the Foundry Departments.  Top level priority of the Specialist is to do repairs, mounting, light pattern making, gating, and drawing interpretations as well as act as a catalyst for process improvement.  The Specialist works closely with the Foundry Manager and the Foundry Quality Engineer to address repairs, scrap, and new tooling. 

JOB DUTIES

• Recommend, research and facilitate areas for improvement
• Work with and through other team members to assure effective modification of processes
• Familiarity with gating, risering and foundry methods
• Understanding of and strong aptitude for molding and core making processes
• Ability to review and interpret drawings of parts
• Ability to lay out patterns into sections according to shape of casting to facilitate removal of pattern from the mold, including coring, gating, and other foundry practices with the appropriate marking and measuring devices.
• Perform Cutting, forming, and shaping pattern parts using general shop machinery such as power sawing machines, drilling and boring machines, lathes, planning and smoothing machines, grinders, sanders, milling and automatic control machine.
• Support the Foundry Quality Engineer identifying tooling needs/repairs

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Foundry tooling preferred or one year and demonstrated aptitude for this work
• Proficient user knowledge of MS Office programs; especially Excel.
• General knowledge of shop machinery such as power sawing machines, drilling and boring machines, lathes, planning and smoothing machines, grinders, sanders, milling and automatic control machine.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
