Synapse is a technology company focused on expanding its solutions and footprint in the Industrial Internet of Things arena.  We are focused on developing and deploying solutions that drive increased profitability and sustainability for our manufacturing and industrial customers through achieving energy savings, and efficiencies in equipment operation, material management, and process flow.  Our Solutions Engineers will be at the forefront of that, working with customers to scope, design, develop, deploy, and support our solutions.

 

Synapse is seeking a Solutions Engineer who will interface with customers to identify their needs and collaborate with internal teams to scope and configure the appropriate solutions.  This will include the configuration and deployment of existing Synapse solutions to meet customer needs as well as the scoping, development, and deployment of prototype and first-of-a-kind solutions that leverage the Synapse IIoT platform and company capabilities.  The successful Solutions Engineer will research advanced technology regarding best practices and seek to find cost-effective solutions. The successful Solutions Engineer will possess a firm holistic understanding of both the operational and scope aspects of projects to excel in this position.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with sales and account management teams, scope potential IIoT solutions to address customer challenges. This includes combinations of the following:
    • Scope and configure existing Synapse solutions as applicable
    • Design, develop, deploy, and support prototype or first-of-a-kind (FOAK) solutions. Write and deploy scripts/programs on IIoT devices as needed to create these prototypes. 
    • Research needed third-party equipment (sensors, monitors, and data collection and analysis systems) to incorporate into the Synapse solution set as needed
    • Configure customer dashboards and UI’s as needed.
  • Act as the product owner for prototype solutions. This includes preparing solution documentation, assessing solution performance once operational, and providing post-installation support as needed for performance issues.
  • Train customers on the use of deployed Synapse solutions.
  • Work with Synapse Product Management and Engineering teams to transition prototype solutions to released solutions status if the market potential warrants such.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support solution scoping, deployment, and post-installation support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering required / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Experience working in and around industrial and/or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with manufacturing technologies such as PLC’s, CNC machines, etc.
  • Experience with computer languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, SQL
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience managing customer interactions
  • Experience and success preparing and delivering presentations to customers
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, planning skills, and coordination skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to be able to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
