Overview

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the role of the Health & Safety Engineer is vital to the success of the organization, achieving company goals and driving initiatives that result in best-in-class health and safety performance (ISO 45001 & VPP facility). This role is a subject matter expert in safety programs and processes, supports in maintaining the Amerex Health & Safety program by auditing, implementing, and conducting training on site-level policies and procedures in accordance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements as established by governing bodies (OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, etc.), as well as the Amerex Corporation and McWane Inc. standards. Additional duties include but are not limited to working closely with internal business partners to find effective and efficient solutions to health and safety issues, participating in injury and incident investigations, ISO/VPP auditing, and maintaining necessary documents pertaining to the health and safety program.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions of the job with the highest level of compliance and integrity
  • Assist in driving a culture of HS ownership throughout all facilities
  • Assist the Health and Safey Manager with Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Develop & Implement HS programs for respective facility, as directed
  • Lead and conduct HS audits and inspections:
  • Physical conditions safety inspections
  • Program audits
  • Compliance & Permit audits
  • Machine guarding
  • Machine Risk Assessments
  • LOTO
  • Confined space entry
  • Develop Safety Programs, training initiative and conduct training as directed by the organization
  • Conduct/schedule IH sampling as required
  • Identify and support the implementation of ergonomic solutions, ergonomics training and ergonomic communications
  • Lead regulatory inspections and investigations as required and develop/track any corrective actions to closure
  • Support Facility with incident investigations, corrective action plans and share best practices through network wide communication.
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent discipline required.
  • 5-7 years’ experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards.
  • Working knowledge of VPP
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess high aptitude for technical communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent time management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills.
  • Strong manufacturing industry knowledge preferred.
  • ASP/CSP is a plus.
  • OSHA 501/511 is a plus.
