Overview

An Industrial Maintenance Millwright coordinates, participates, assists, constructs, fabricates, installs, repairs and maintains production and operational equipment that includes machines with hydraulic and pneumatic controls as required for the efficient operation and process of producing cast iron pipe and fittings.

Responsibilities

An Industrial Maintenance Millwrights's responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist supervisor in planning, scheduling and assigning various jobs.
  • Order parts and materials for maintenance department from warehouse and purchasing department as required to install and maintain equipment.
  • Locate, diagnose and repair troubles in mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Work with electrical hand and power tools, measuring and testing instruments.
  • Use and interpret for others complicated blueprints and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns to resolve cause of trouble while keeping work of unit on schedule.
  • Always follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate work performed to their supervisor, next shift, and maintenance scheduler.
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Candidates for the Industrial Maintenance Millwright position must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have verifiable and consistent work experience.
  • Pass a written exam to demonstrate knowledge of various millwright topics. (The result will be used to determine a candidates base knowledge for the appropriate starting wage.)
  • Pass an employment background check, drug screening, and physical fitness test. (To be coordinated through Tyler Pipe's HR & Safety Departments)

Candidates for the Industrial Maintenance Millwright position should have:

  • Ability to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems malfunctions.
  • Understanding of the correct handling and use of mechanical repair tools and equipment.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and coordinate work functions with co-workers.
  • Initiative and ability to work unsupervised at times.
  • Willingness to work when needed and to help and volunteer across a variety of different machines.
  • Dedication to safety by following all safety rules/procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Excellence attendance and punctuality.
